Our chicory coffee has many positive effects, especially on digestion, thanks to the content of the prebiotic fiber inulin, which supports intestinal microflora and regular bowel movements. In addition, it has a beneficial effect on liver and gallbladder function, helps regulate blood sugar levels, and is suitable for people avoiding caffeine, such as pregnant and breastfeeding women. It also has antioxidant properties and can contribute to supporting heart and vascular health. Inulin and its positive effect on diabetes The main component of inulin is fructose, which does not require insulin to enter cells, which diabetics often lack. Since inulin is practically not broken down by digestive enzymes in the small intestine, it acts to a certain extent as a fiber, which reduces the glycemic index of foods. The result of consuming foods with a higher fiber content and therefore also inulin is a lower and more stable blood glucose level.

Inulin and prebiotic effects

It acts as a prebiotic serving as food for intestinal bacteria – it creates a suitable environment for reproduction and preservation of the natural intestinal microflora. As dietary fiber, it cannot be digested in the digestive system, it reaches the digestive tract intact and affects the composition and consistency in the stomach and intestines, as well as the rate of emptying.

 

Ingredients: ground roasted chicory (Cichorium intybus) – root with a natural inulin content of min. 35%.

Preparation instructions:

  1. Pour 1 (max. 2) teaspoons of chicory into a coffee cup, pour boiling water over it, stir and let it sit.
  2. Pour 1 – 2 tablespoons (hereinafter referred to as Tbsp) of chicory into the coffee machine hopper and let 1 l of water drip in.
  3. Pour 1-2 Tbsp of chicory into 1 l of boiling water and boil briefly, stirring occasionally. Let it steep for min. 3 min and then strain.

Sweeten and soften with plant-based milk or cream to taste. You can drink the drink hot like coffee or cold for refreshment.
